A river is a natural watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, a lake, a sea, or another river. Lakes play a vital role in the Earth's water cycle. As the river flows, it wears away the ground and slowly and steadily over millions of years reshape the landscape, forming one of the most diverse bio-mes.

In contrast to rivers, a Lake forms when water collects in the depression caused in the land. Lakes are relatively young features on Earth's surface created by glaciers during the Ice Age.

Although vertebrates represent only a very small percentage of all animals, their size and mobility often allow them to dominate their environment. Of the million or more animal species in the world, more than 98% are invertebrates. Invertebrates don't have an internal skeleton made of bone. Many invertebrates have a fluid-filled, hydro static skeleton, like the jelly fish or worm.

All piranhas have a single row of sharp teeth in both jaws, the teeth are tightly packed and interlocking (via small cusps) and are used for rapid puncture and shearing.

Eels are elongated fish, They possess no pelvic fins, and many species also lack pectoral fins. The dorsal and anal fins are fused with the caudal fin, forming a single ribbon running along much of the length of the animal.

The female crocodile will build a nest of loose dirt in a mound by the water's edge and lay her eggs. She buries the eggs and fiercely guards her nest. When the eggs hatch the female helps carry her young to the water.
