Oceans are mysterious. Deep down they are as dark as night. The temperatures are just above freezing point while in a few places, the temperature is hotter than humans can handle.About 70 % of the earth's surface is covered with water.

Coral reefs are underwater structures made from calcium carbonate secreted by corals. Coral reefs are colonies of tiny animals found in marine waters that contain few nutrients.

The polyps belong to a group of animals known as Cnidarian, which also includes sea anemones and jellyfish. Unlike sea anemones, coral polyps secrete hard carbonate exoskeletons which support and protect their bodies.

The octopus inhabits many diverse regions of the ocean, including coral reefs, pelagic waters, and the ocean floor. They have numerous strategies for defending themselves against predators, including the expulsion of ink, the use of camouflage.

Puffer fish are generally believed to be the second-most poisonous vertebrates in the world, after the golden poison frog. They inflate and make themselves look bigger.

Porcupine fish are medium- to large-sized fish, and are found in shallow temperate and tropical seas worldwide. Porcupine fish have the ability to inflate their bodies by swallowing water or air, thereby becoming rounder.

Whales range in size from the blue whale, the largest animal known to have ever existed at 30 m (98 ft) and 180 tonnes (180 long tons, 200 short tons.
